The wait is finally over, we just got brand new KTM 250 EXC TPI 2018 bike.
We are really happy to test new technology called TPI it means Transfer Point Injection, this system was developed by KTM in last few years. This fuel injected system will make engine operation very clean also it will improve smooth linear power response and power.
Also big feature in 2018 EXC Range is no need anymore to jetting the bike for elevation and weather. The engine has air pressure and temperature sensors so it will calculate and adjust fuel injected system to location. From my KTM dealer i got some information: Reduced fuel consumption, Smooth engine power, More readability and performance, no flooding when flipping the bike over..
After small test ride i can say the engine is very soft and at top end you get very big punch what is really good. You can also adjust this power over the ECU and power valve. The EXC250 TPI is really good bike, i am lightweight so the power of engine is really good and enough for me. EXC300TPI is strong bike and also easy to control but all depends on the rider skills.
This TPI engine is fitted with new throttle body like on 4 stroke bikes its made by dellorto and its 39mm diameter. This is really big feature when we compare to 2017 carburetor bikes. There is also oil pump so it feeds crankshaft and throttle body with oil. No need to premix anymore its past, also i can say this will reduce smoke from exhaust. More testing will be made soon.
The EFI system with two small injectors mounted on engine will make really big difference on power delivery. It will make much more smoother engine to ride and it will use less fuel.
